Over 1,200 delegates - including forensic scientists, law enforcement, legal professionals, and industry representatives - will gather in Glasgow in 2028 as Scotland hosts Europe’s premier forensic science conference.

The Scottish Police Authority Forensic Services, the University of Strathclyde, and the University of Dundee have formed a partnership to bring the European Academy of Forensic Science (EAFS) conference to Scotland. This collaboration will deliver a distinctive and world-class EAFS experience.

Scotland has long been recognised as a centre of excellence in forensic research, education and practice. Its contributions to the development of modern forensic science and criminal investigation techniques stretch back to the early 19th century and continue to shape global progress today.

EAFS is the largest European forensic science event. Held every three years, it provides a platform for forensic science professionals, researchers, and other stakeholders to come together and exchange knowledge, strengthen professional networks, and explore the latest innovations advancing the field.

The 2028 conference, which takes places from Monday 18 – Friday 22 September, 2028, will be hosted at the Scottish Event Campus (SEC) in Glasgow. Scotland’s vision for the conference is to provide a comprehensive and thoroughly enjoyable experience where innovative ideas and cutting-edge knowledge can be effectively delivered, thoughtfully explored, and generously shared amongst peers from across the globe.

Niamh Nic Daeid, Director of Leverhulme Research Centre for Forensic Science, University of Dundee said, “We are delighted to work in partnership with our colleagues at SPA Forensic Services and the University of Strathclyde to bring EAFS back to Scotland after nearly 20 years.
