IChemE has launched a new Energy from Waste on-demand training course as part of its Sustainability Hub. The course is free to IChemE members and will help registrants understand the key concepts of turning waste into a reliable energy source.

The course explores the breadth of activities that come under the term ‘energy from waste’ and evaluates the advantages and challenges of these from a sustainability perspective. It includes practical examples that demonstrate how to adopt an energy from waste system.

Trish Melton, Chair of the IChemE Sustainability Hub Technical Advisory Group, says the course will be of interest to chemical engineers involved in front end design, environmental assessment, energy efficiency schemes and waste minimisation: “The course is particularly useful to chemical engineers and senior managers seeking to understand the complexities of energy from waste and how they might strategically consider it for their business.

“Energy transition will continue to be one of the most challenging societal issues in the coming decades – guaranteeing energy access, at affordable consumer prices with the lowest adverse environmental footprint,” adds Melton.

To access this FREE member benefit, IChemE members can find the free registration code on IChemE Connect in the announcements section, or by contacting membersupport@icheme.org. The course is also available to non-members for £99 + VAT and on a company license/multi-user basis.
