ICE - Designing cities that work for women
11th December 2025 1:00 pm
This webinar, based on the Cities Alive: Designing Cities That Work for Women report by Arup in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the University of Liverpool, explores how gender-responsive design can transform cities into inclusive, equitable and vibrant spaces for all.
We will examine:
- Why cities often fail women and the systemic biases in planning and design.
- Four key themes for gender-responsive urban design: safety and security, justice and equity, health and wellbeing, and enrichment and fulfilment.
- Practical strategies and global case studies that demonstrate how inclusive design benefits entire communities.
- Actionable steps for civil engineers and urban professionals to embed gender equity in projects.
By the end of the session attendees will understand how designing for women is not just a social imperative - it’s a pathway to better cities for everyone.
