RAeS - The Role of Air Accident Investigation Branch
13th January 2025 7:00 pm
The Air Accidents Investigation Branch investigates civil aircraft accidents and serious incidents within the UK, its overseas territories and crown dependencies.
Each year, there are 500-700 notifications of air accidents and incidents. Teams of inspectors are sent to accident sites around 30 or 40 times per year and conduct more than 200 investigations by correspondence each year.
Safety recommendations are part of the investigations process and these can be addressed to regulatory authorities, manufacturers, operators, maintainers or government with the objective of improving future aviation safety.
