Raffaello Gonnella is a certified genealogist and a historian and researcher of Italian Scottish immigration, specialising in World War Two internment of Italian-Scots and the Arandora Star tragedy. This talk near to the 85th Anniversary of the Arandora Star tragedy on 2nd July 1940 will provide detailed background information and personal stories on the tragedy and on the internment and treatment of Italian-Scots. The talk is edited content from “Italian-Scots to Scottish-Italians, Tallys’, Cafes and Chippies – Their Story and Mine” by Raffaello Gonnella. The Arandora Star was built in 1927 by Cammel Laird and re-fitted at Fairfield in 1929.
