EI - Beyond the (security) patch

23rd April 2024 6:30 pm

The assumption that OEMs will consistently release patches to address security issues and ensure software safety is flawed. Even when patches are developed, there can be significant delays before deployment, exposing organisations to vulnerabilities during this time. In this hybrid event, our presenters look at more tailored and targeted approaches, going beyond the patch.

Description

OEM patches are typically designed for mass deployment, often making individualised customisation financially impractical. The patch / fix approach often assumes the software is in its original state, with no modifications, and many OEMs will only support the core code and not the Open-Source supporting products embedded within the product package. To adequately protect products and environments from exploitation, a more tailored and targeted approach is essential, going beyond the patch.
