IET - New 'Metals' for Microwave and mm-wave passive devices and antennas
18th April 2024 12:00 pm
This webinar will discuss two research topics, exploring the use of unusual ‘metals’ for microwave and mm-wave devices and antennas.
It will first look at the opportunities and challenges of metal 3D printing in microwave devices, especially for high-power space applications using low coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) alloys or composites. Professor Wang will then demonstrate the capability of high-precision 3D printing in producing mm-wave and sub-terahertz metallic waveguide filters and antennas up to 500 GHz.
The second part of the webinar is about the use of ‘liquid metals’ in reconfigurable microwave devices. Professor Wang will present a high-performance tunable phase shifter, a quad-polarisation-reconfigurable antenna and a switchplexer.
