ICE- Low carbon concrete specification and procurement

The carbon pillar of the UK Concrete Sustainable Construction Strategy is connected to the industry roadmap which was published in 2020. The updated strategy focusses on establishing the foundations required by 2030 to fully decarbonise by 2050.

The talk will cover the imminent revision to BS 8500 which includes the introduction of lower carbon ternary (or multi-component) cements, CEM II/C-M and CEM VI, performance specifications, concrete benchmarking, and touches on supplementary cementitious materials and some of innovative binders.
