5th September 2022 12:00 pm

Following a joint venture in 2019 with the Institution of Civil Engineers, the IMechE’s Energy Environment and Sustainability Group launched a policy paper entitled “Waste as a Resource” promoting the concept of using waste as a valuable resource.

In this webinar, Ian Arbon, shares his views on how these recommendations still have relevance today and could have helped to achieve a truly sustainable energy system in the long term. For these reasons, in 2022, the EESG is updating and republishing the Waste as Resource policy statement.

The paper looked to change our views and approach to waste by offering recommendations to help improve the Waste Hierarchy making it more effective and transparent.

By discussing how the issues addressed are as relevant today they were then, Ian will look to highlight a roadmap to a more sustainable future by using Waste as a Resource.

Ian will trace the development of the WaR concept over the past two decades and cover key takeaways from the policy paper and highlight several recommendations to UK government.
