AFBE- Round table discussion : The difference between Innocence and Ignorance
5th May 2021 5:00 pm
AFBE-UK brings to you another exciting round table forum providing a unique opportunity to hear the views of working professionals from different industries. The event will provide the delegate audience with an opportunity to explore various aspect of people’s roles/responsibility within their professional environment. A confidential agreement applies to this event with everyone with the audience being empowered to share their experience in a safe private setting.
This roundtable event centres on the experiences of microaggressions in the workplace and the arguments concerning them coming from a place of innocence or ignorance; and seeing how this has been influenced by recent trends in working remotely.
With issues concerning race becoming more of a talking point in the wider society, we look to discuss how this has affected interactions in the workplace. Moderated by AFBE board members George Brown and Jonathan Fashanu, the interactive session will cover questions around:
- Whether an offence to someone is still valid, regardless if it was intentional or unintentional
- The burgeoning issues surrounding ‘levelling the playing field’ and meritocracy
- Assessing the systems put in the workplace to combat microaggressions
