IET - Aspects of The European Spallation Source
4th May 2021 6:30 pm
The European Spallation Source is being built at Lund in Sweden at an estimated cost in excess of 1.6 billion Euros. It will use a linear accelerator to accelerate protons into a tungsten target to create the most powerful spallation neutron source in the world. The U.K. is making several “in kind” contributions. One such contribution is the RF distribution system for the superconducting cavities. The talk will describe some high-level design decisions in the design of the accelerator and then focus on two detailed design issues in relation to the RF system.
